Why companionship matters
Loneliness can affect anyone, but it is especially common in later life, after a bereavement, or when health problems make it harder to get out. Feeling isolated can affect mood, sleep, appetite and physical health. Regular companionship visits can make a real difference to how someone feels day to day.
What a companionship visit looks like
Every visit is shaped by the person we are visiting. It might be a chat over a cup of tea, a walk along the promenade at St Annes, a trip to a favourite café in Lytham, a game of cards, doing a jigsaw together or reading the paper. We match clients with carers who share their interests wherever we can.
Companionship visits can also include practical help: writing letters, making video calls to family, going to the library, attending church or community groups, or getting to appointments.
Peace of mind for families
If you live further away, or cannot visit as often as you would like, our companionship service gives you peace of mind. Our carers are trained, DBS checked and supervised by a qualified nurse, and they will let you know if they notice any changes in your loved one's health or wellbeing.
