Bonfire night is a time for fireworks in the Autumn chilly air. Sunday 5th November commemorates Guy Fawkes failed attempt to blow up the houses of Parliament in 1605. While the traditions can be fun for many people, a gentle reminder that for elderly people fireworks have the potential to cause distress especially if they are living with Dementia. Fireworks are a large and noisy part of the November celebrations. Talk to your loved one before the evening event unfolds and reassure them that there is no need to be worried. Many families enjoy traditional treats including hot dogs, toasted marshmallows, jacket potatoes and mugs of hot chocolate. Please stay safe during these celebrations!
